Woman, 29, killed
in morning collision
A 29-year-old woman was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Inniswold Road at Jefferson Highway, East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies said.
Shannan Fergeson Taylor, 4350 Inniswold Road, was traveling on Inniswold at 7:50 a.m. when she came to a stop sign at the Jefferson Highway intersection, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release.
Taylor darted into the intersection and struck a van traveling southeast on Jefferson, Hicks said.
Taylor, who was traveling alone and not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from her vehicle and then it rolled over her, Hicks said. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene, Hicks said.
The driver of the van was not seriously injured, Hicks said.
Deputies are awaiting toxicology reports from the Coroner’s Office to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, Hicks said.
Traffic on Jefferson between Bluebonnet Boulevard and Floynell Drive was shut down for about two hours as authorities cleared the accident, Hicks said.
