Veteran’s body found in Mississippi River

The body of an Iraqi war veteran who authorities say jumped off the Audubon Bridge on Nov. 4 was recovered Sunday, said Capt. Steve Juge with the Pointe Coupee Sheriff’s Office.

Juge said Monday the body of Dusty Brouillette, 16141 Chantilly Ave., Baton Rouge, was found about 4:35 p.m. Sunday by a child riding a four-wheeler across the levee in Ventress.

Brouillette, 32, had been missing for a week after his 2002 Chevrolet pickup was discovered in the westbound lane of the Audubon Bridge at 5:40 p.m. Nov. 4.

Juge said authorities with Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana and East Baton Rouge parish sheriff’s offices searched the Mississippi River last week for Brouillette’s body.

Juge said Monday the incident is still under investigation and that an autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of Brouillette’s death.

Surely there were signs of unhappiness and depression. Very sad to think that someone's spirit has sunk so low that self-murder seems the only solution. Condolences to family and friends.

Name is misspelled, street name is misspelled, and third paragraph, first sentence has a word left out.
