Illegal immigrant arrested in Prairieville rape case

Ascension Parish sheriff’s authorities have arrested an illegal immigrant following a rape allegation.

Elmer Alexander Esquivel Ramos, 33, 43218 Moody Dixon Road, Prairieville, was booked into Ascension Parish Prison on Tuesday on counts of aggravated rape and second-degree battery, Sheriff Jeff Wiley said.

In addition, agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on Ramos because he has been living in the U.S. without legal permission.

Deputies were called to St. Elizabeth Hospital on Monday morning where a 72-year-old woman was being treated after she was sexually assaulted and beaten, Wiley said.

The victim had stayed overnight at a couple’s home in Prairieville, where Ramos had visited and also was staying, the sheriff said. The victim told authorities that she woke up with Ramos’ hand over her mouth as he beat and raped her, Wiley added.

1. We're not broke; we're in debt. There's a difference. "Broke" is when there's no more money coming in or when revenue is at its highest possible level (it's not) and when spending is at its lowest possible level (also...not). 2. It's never okay to rape someone. I feel dumber for even having to write that. 3. My point, since you missed it, is that this is not an immigration issue. 4. "this president has deported more than any other president. That does not phase me in the least." You can't admit to being close-minded and biased. It kinda negates the rest of your argument. You're really off your game today, bub.

DMJ, it is about politics. Illegal is illegal and we have enough crime without illegals coming here to commit them. Our politicians are not following the constitution on illegal immigrants. Our taxes are being used to take care of illegal immigrants. I find that ridiculous since our country's economy is broken. According to your argument is that it's okay since American's commit crimes too? You can say that this president has deported more than any other president. That does not phase me in the least. Any administration that allowed illegals to stay here without documentation was wrong. We don't have enough jobs as it is and they do take jobs that Americans can do in desperate times. We cannot take anymore illegals and take care of them. We are broke!!!

@ bourbon-soda: How about illegal thug? @ DMJ: It was his wife not his girlfriend and he didn't just stab her. He cut the baby out of her abdomen and slit her throat because he was high on bath salts.

People, both legal and illegal, commit terrible crimes. Remember the white guy in Walker who stabbed his pregnant girlfriend? Immigration status has nothing to do with this. I know it's fun to try and make everything about politics, especially presidential politics now that the anti-christ is in the White House, but let's try and get a grip, eh folks?

And so they were both "staying with a couple"? Sounds fishy too.

boiledcrabs, great suggestion! isn't it still against the law to hire illegals?

If he was employed how about posting the name of the company that hired him?

Sounds like a prime candidate for amnesty before he committed this crime...oh wait, he committed a crime by being here undocumented! Why was he not punished for that before he committed a heinous crime against a citizen?

"Illegal immigrant" is highly insensitive and politically incorrect. "Undocumented person" would be nicer.

Send him to the White House!
