House damaged in early morning blaze

LAFAYETTE — A house at 333 Indian Mound Road sustained heavy fire damage in a blaze reported at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, Lafayette Fire investigator Alton Trahan said.

No injuries were reported and firefighters were able to sustain the blaze in about 45 minutes, Trahan said in a news release.

Four sleeping residents in the home were awakened by the smoke and were able to safely escape the house, he said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
