PIERRE PART — State Police arrested a Pierre Part man Thursday suspected of causing a head-on collision that injured two occupants of the other vehicle, one critically, and shut La. 70 South for more than two hours.
Troopers booked Yancy Hebert, 46, on two counts of first-degree vehicular negligent injuring and one count of driving left of center, a State Police report says.
Hebert was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado east when it drifted across the centerline of La. 70 and hit a 2006 Nissan Sentra, injuring both occupants in the westbound car shortly at 1:46 p.m. Thursday, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Liner’s passenger, Taylor Adams, 20, of Morgan City, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.
Hebert, whom troopers said later displayed signs of intoxication, was taken to Teche Regional for treatment of with minor injuries. Troopers obtained blood and urine samples from Hebert and sent them to the State Police Crime Lab.
All involved were using seat belts.
The crash occurred a tenth of a mile east of Shell Beach Road in Pierre Part. Sheriff Mike Waguespack said Friday that the wreck forced the closure of La. 70 in both directions until 5 p.m. Thursday.
