Liens filed against BR casino L’Auberge
Four of the subcontractors that helped build L’Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge have filed liens against the property, claiming they haven’t been paid for more than $3 million worth of work.
The liens were filed with the East Baton Rouge Parish clerk of court. The subcontractors and the lien amounts are Kostmayer Construction LLC, of Slidell, $2.3 million; Roswell Drywall LLC, of Atlanta, $618,115.42; Casey Civil LLC, of Slidell, $87,169; and Master Vac Industrial Services LLC, of Geismar, $33,562.
In addition, Roswell Drywall has filed a lawsuit in 19th Judicial District Court against L’Auberge’s owner Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. and Manhattan Construction Co., the general contractor on the project. Roswell claims although it did a satisfactory job on the casino and hotel, Manhattan has refused to pay.
Roswell is asking for the full amount owed, interest and attorneys’ fees.
The lawsuit says Pinnacle, as owner of the property, is also liable for the payment.
Pinnacle referred questions to Manhattan. Manhattan officials could not be reached for comment. Officials with Kostmayer, Roswell, Casey and Master Vac were not available for comment.
L’Auberge’s $368 million entertainment complex opened Sept. 1. The property includes a 74,000-square-foot casino, a 12-story hotel with 205 guest rooms, and parking for 2,400 vehicles.
In its lien, Kostmayer says its work on L’Auberge included installing the pipe pilings, the temporary and permanent mooring for the casino barges, and the retaining wall.
In its lien, Casey Civil says it built L’Auberge’s support facility and worked on the central plant building.
In its lien, Master Vac says it removed mud from beneath the casino barges.
