Walker High Band to host Family Night

The Walker High Band of Legacy will host Family Night from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 1 in Wildcat Stadium.

Admission is free.

Several trucks will be serving food in the school’s front parking lot and will donate 10 percent of their profits to the band, organizers said.

The New Orleans funk, rock and brass band Disfunktional Bones, which is led by Walker High alumni Justin Pardue, will provide music.

At 7 p.m., organizers will honor the senior band members and the night will end with special performances featuring the Walker High School cheerleaders, color guard, drum line and The Band of Legacy.

Homecoming Revival

Colyell Baptist Church, 19524 La. 42, in Livingston will hold Homecoming Revival beginning 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Dinners will be served from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and the cost is $3 per plate with a $10 maximum per family per night. To reserve a meal, call the church office at (225) 698-6243.

Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m. Sunday. Morning worship will be at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Oliver Deen and the Rev. Raymond Taylor. A fellowship potluck luncheon will be at 11:45 a.m. Sunday. Everyone is asked to bring enough food to share. Call Pastor Bill Holifield at (225) 698-1777.

Early voting

Early voting for the Nov. 6 election takes place in the Registrar of Voters Office, 29938 S. Magnolia, in Livingston beginning Tuesday. Votes may be cast from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Oct. 30, excluding Sunday. For information, call (225) 686-3054.

Entrepreneur workshop

The Livingston Economic Development Council will host “Write Your Own Check: Be an Entrepreneur,” a series of six free sessions.

The sessions are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker. The series will prepare participants for the critical business planning process.

Self-defense class

A free self-defense seminar for women will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker. Presented by senior nursing students from the Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing, the program will provide practical tips for women on remaining safe in public, including self-defense techniques. Registration is not required.

Ré sumé workshop

Participants can get pointers and tips on how to create a new resume or update an old one from the staff at the Livingston branch library at 10 a.m. Friday. Participants are asked to bring an old ré sumé . Registration is required by calling (225) 686-2436.
