La. Tech president search nets 3 applicants so far

Three candidates have applied to become Louisiana Tech University’s next president.

Applicants as of Friday, the candidates are John R. Dew, senior vice chancellor of student services and administration at Troy University in Troy, Ala.; Lesley Lovett-Doust, president and vice chancellor at Nipissing University in Ontario, Canada; and Les Guice, executive vice president and vice president for research and development at Louisiana Tech.

University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors Chairman Wayne Parker, who leads the search committee, said that the board still aims to choose the university’s 14th president in December.

Parker says the board is hoping for more applicants by the end of October.

President Dan Reneau announced in September that he would retire in June after 26 years.

Guice has received public support as Reneau’s successor.
