BRAC FuturePAC endorses Holden

The political action committee of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, FuturePAC, has endorsed incumbent Kip Holden in the Nov. 6 race for East Baton Rouge mayor-president, according to a news release.

Holden faces three opponents, Metro Councilman Mike Walker, businessman Gordon Mese and lawyer Steve Myers.

Holden has “worked vigorously to provide aggressive business recruitment and retention efforts,” the release says.

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber has a contract with the city-parish to aid in economic development efforts.

Steve Myers. The only choice for common sense voters. Walker would be my second choice.

Ditto phil's comment.

I must agree with Phil, here. I think it would have been better for Holden and BRAC if they had refrained from this, since it is an obvious conflict of interest. How can the economic development contractor for the city oppose the mayor? It is a completely meaningless endorsement and smells a little bit.

Let's see - an affiliate of BRAC gets about $450,000 a year from the city-parish government, the current leader of the city-parish government runs for office, and the group whose affiliate receives the $450,000 endorses the current leader of the city-parish government. Well now, isn't that just a big surprise! Maybe we need a new leader.
