This year’s Friends of the Lafayette Public Library’s Annual Author Dinner will feature Rick Bragg.
The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at a cost of $25 per person. Proceeds will provide supplemental funding to the Lafayette Parish public library system and help pay for projects not covered by the library system’s regular budget.
Bragg is a contributing editor for Southern Living Magazine and a professor of writing at the University of Alabama. In 1996, Bragg won the Pulitzer Prize for feature writing. He is also the author of “All Over But the Shoutin’,” “Ava’s Man” and “The Prince of Frogtown.”

Film/TV and Music Group
The Lafayette Film/TV & Music Meet-up Group will gather at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the LITE Center.
The featured presenter will be Pixel Magic Vice President Ray McIntyre, who will discuss the latest technology involving 3D, VFX and special effects in movies.
A tour of the LITE facility will be provided.

Prof to speak at luncheon
The annual Government Affairs luncheon will feature G. Pearson Cross, professor and chairman of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette political science department.
Cross will discuss the structure of the U.S. government, the Constitution, the electoral process and comments on the upcoming presidential election.
The event will be from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette. Tickets are $15 for members and guests.
AOC seeking volunteers
AOC Community Media is seeking radio personalities for its new Internet radio station, Cypress Street Radio, which is set to launch Nov. 1.
AOC is holding an informational launch meeting at 6 p.m. Oct. 23 at AOC to recruit local producers, news readers, operators and others interested in Internet radio.
Content on Cypress Street Radio must be noncommercial, locally produced and address issues relevant to the community.
AOC will also teach beginners interested in participating the basics of Internet radio productions as well as the elements of quality radio programming.
The station will stream online through SHOUTcast. The stream will be available through AOC’s website at http://www.aocinc.org and on mobile phones through the SHOUTcast application.
To be involved in the project, individuals must be AOC members and live in Lafayette Parish. Memberships range from $25 to $35 per year.

Open house scheduled
Lafayette Community Health Care Clinic will host an open house and ribbon cutting from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at its newly renovated facility at 1317 Jefferson St., Lafayette.
