Bridge work begins in Avoyelles Parish

MARKSVILLE — Work is scheduled to begin Monday on the Voorhies Crossing Bridge over Bayou Des Glaises in Avoyelles Parish.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the work will consist of removing the existing bridge and replacing it with a nine-span concrete slab span bridge.
The road will be closed for several weeks as a result.
In addition, on Oct. 22, work will begin in Avoyelles Parish on Schexnayder Road over an unnamed creek. That road also will be closed for several weeks.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes when traveling through both areas.
