Woman, 39, booked in stabbing death
The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a 39-year-old Breaux Bridge woman in the early Sunday morning stabbing death of her 38-year-old boyfriend, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said Monday.
Deputies found the man dead from a stab wound while responding to a disturbance call inside a trailer in a trailer park on Delcambre Road near Breaux Bridge, said Maj. Ginny Higgins, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was stabbed once in the torso while the two were involved in a fight, Higgins said.
The victim’s girlfriend, Chanda Moss, was arrested at the scene on one count of second-degree murder, Higgins said.
The couple had no previous history with the department, Higgins said.
Moss was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. Her bail is set at $500,000, Higgins said.

The man’s body was removed from his home in the 200 block of Ike-B Street and transported to the Lafayette Coroner’s Office for further examination, police spokesman Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a news release.
“The circumstances surrounding the victim’s death are not being released at this time,” Mouton said in the release.
Information sought in year-old slaying
LAFAYETTE — One year ago Monday, the body of 34-year-old Darnell James Andrew was found in the trunk of a car in the 100 block of Felix Road in eastern Lafayette Parish.
Andrew’s killing remains unsolved.
Firefighters found Andrew’s body inside the trunk of a 1999 Chevrolet four-door vehicle after extinguishing a fire inside the vehicle.
The Breaux Bridge man was identified later that month by the LSU FACES Lab, the Sheriff’s Office has said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call (337) 232-8477.
