N.O. man charged with assaulting officer

NEW ORLEANS — A New Orleans man has been charged in a one-count indictment for assault upon a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.
U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said Friday that John Philip Morrill Jr., 31, according to the indictment, knowingly assaulted U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Brian Rossitto with a motorized vehicle while Rossitto was engaged in his official duties on Sept. 21.
If convicted, Morrill faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
