Cajun Constructors buys IDC
Cajun Constructors Inc., a subsidiary of Cajun Industries LLC, has acquired Industrial Design and Construction, a privately held Prairieville firm focused on mechanical construction.
Founded in 1988, IDC has a regional office in Deer Park, Texas, Cajun said in a news release.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Cajun noted its line of credit remains untapped.
The deal was scheduled to close Monday.
Cajun Constructors has about 1,800 employees, while IDC has about 600. With the IDC acquisition, parent company Cajun Industries’ total employee average will be above 2,600, the company said.
Cajun said IDC’s primary owner is retiring and sought the best opportunity for his team to continue operations and build on the existing business. The companies negotiated a full acquisition of IDC by Cajun, allowing the current company management to remain, along with all field staff and craftsmen.
Donnie McDowell, senior vice president, will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the new entity, which will be called Cajun IDC and operate in its existing markets as a wholly owned subsidiary of Cajun Constructors.
Cajun said it and IDC are complementary businesses.
Cajun said it intends to expand IDC’s assets and enhance its facilities.
“This is a great opportunity for both companies,” Todd Grigsby, president of Cajun Constructors, said in the news release. “The addition of IDC tremendously increases Cajun’s mechanical expertise and depth, and is a great benefit to our customers. The combined strengths of the two companies will offer us additional opportunities to secure larger mechanical and turnkey construction projects.”
Cajun Constructors is a full-service industrial construction firm.
Other Cajun Industries subsidiaries include Cajun Deep Foundations LLC, which specializes in deep foundation work of all types; Cajun Maritime LLC, which specializes in marine construction, oil field services and coastal restoration; and Cajun Equipment Services LLC, which specializes in heavy equipment hauling and construction equipment maintenance and repairs.
