  • BATON ROUGE PRESS CLUB: Noon, De La Ronde Hall, 320 Third St. The Baton Rouge Press Club is hosting a debate for Louisiana Public Service Commission District 2 Candidates Scott Angelle, R-Breaux Bridge; Sarah Holliday, R-Baton Rouge; Erich Ponti, R-Baton Rouge; and Forest Wright, D-New Orleans, and Greg Gaubert, no party-Thibodaux, will attend. Lunch, which is served at 11:30 a.m., is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers.
  • MAYORAL FORUM: 6 p.m., Southern University, Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Union. Southern University’s Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs presents a mayoral symposium, featuring Mayor-President Kip Holden and challengers Metro Councilman Mike Walker and local attorney Steven Myers. Jim Engster, the host of “The Jim Engster Show” on WRKF in Baton Rouge, will be the moderator. Engster is an acclaimed local news and sports reporter and a political analyst for WAFB.

  • MONTHLY METRO 1 MEETING: 6:30 p.m., Zachary Library, 1900 Church St. District 1 Metro Councilman Trae Welch would like to invite any resident in District 1 to attend the monthly Metro 1 meetings, which are held throughout the district. Council District 1 covers the northern part of the parish, including Pride/Chaneyville areas and the cities of Baker and Zachary and a small portion of Central.
