Infant killed, 3 injured in I-12 crash
ROBERT — An infant died Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle wreck on Interstate 12, State Police reported.
Shortly before 1 p.m., a 2009 Freightliner delivery truck traveling east struck a 2006 Dodge Stratus that was disabled on the right shoulder with its emergency flashers activated, according to a preliminary investigation by State Police.
A child in the car, 1-year-old Ethan Day, was pronounced dead at the scene by officials with the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office; three other occupants were hospitalized, troopers reported.
The driver of the truck, Louis Breaux, 37, of Diamondhead, Miss., was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on careless operation of a motor vehicle, three counts of negligent injuring and one count of negligent homicide, State Police said.
