Teacher awards planned

LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Education Foundation is accepting nominations for its 15th annual Teacher Awards, according to a news release.
Nominees must be active K-12 educators in Lafayette Parish public, private or parochial schools.
The nomination deadline is Oct. 31.
Nominees and finalists will be honored at the “Academy Awards” style gala scheduled Jan. 17 at the Heymann Performing Arts Center.

Completed nomination forms must be accompanied by a written explanation of why the teacher is being nominated. Finalists are selected based on the written explanation, not the number of nominations received.
The foundation supports teachers with grants funding for classroom projects and schoolwide initiatives and its annual awards program.
