Amite man sought in Isaac looting investigation

Deputies are seeking David Mitchell McCloud on looting warrants involving incidents that occurred during Hurricane Isaac, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

The cases involve theft of generators in southern Tangipahoa Parish, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Conviction on a charge of looting during a declared state of emergency carries a penalty of three to 15 years in prison without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence, according to the release.

Deputies have asked anyone knowing the whereabouts of McCloud, 47, of 116 E. Mulberry St. in Amite, to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 554-5245.

Thieves are despicable during the best of times but even more so during times of crisis. Give him 3 years in Angola for each generator stolen. That should give him time enough to consider the error of his ways. If he doesn't change his way of thinking and behaving, ia stiff sentence at least will keep him off the streets for 15+ years.
