Ascension, Livingston waterways to reopen

Waterways will reopen to recreational boat traffic Tuesday morning in Ascension and Livingston parishes, authorities said Monday.

The rivers are “back in their banks,” Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks said.

People who flooded along the waterways have had a chance to get their possessions out, said Tommy Martinez, president of Ascension Parish.

The waterways have been closed as a result of high waters caused by Hurricane Isaac.
