Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Berwick man on a drug count after acting on a tip and finding him with six grams of crystal meth, the Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

Deputies spotted Tommy D. Donati II, 30, 2820 Second St., Berwick, in a Chevrolet pickup on Friday in the Belle River Car Wash, deputies said in a news release.

Donati cursed at arriving deputies, refused to be patted down and ran away but was caught after a short chase, deputies said.

Donati was booked into Assumption Parish Detention Center in Napoleonville with intent to distribute methamphetamine and resisting an officer, deputies said. Bail was pending Monday.

After being read his rights, deputies said, Donati told them he would “take his lick” as he was “only bringing the crystal meth to sell to a friend.” Deputies found a black bag on Donati with five individually wrapped clear bags inside containing chunks of suspected crystal meth, deputies said.

did he make it or buy it from someone else? if he turns in the source, only give him 80% of the sentence , if he won't, give him 100% of the meth charge, then add any charge that can be leveled (escape comes to mind)and pile the years on. sooner or later he will understand he's cooked.
