Man killed in motorcycle wreck

A man died early Saturday when he lost control of his motorcycle on South Tiger Bend Road and was thrown, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Edward McCabe, 52, 5236 Stone’s River Ave., was pronounced dead at the scene, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release.

McCabe, on a 2001 Yamaha, was heading south on South Tiger Bend Road about 4 a.m., approaching the intersection with Hoo Shoo Too Road, the news release says.

The motorcycle started skidding and sliding on the road and across the intersection, the release says, and McCabe was tossed from the motorcycle.

Hicks said McCabe was wearing a helmet.

Deputies investigating the incident were awaiting toxicology reports, Hicks added.
