Ex-deputy arrested; ex-girlfriend stalked
A former East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested Friday and accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend for the past year.
Ronald M. Gautreaux, 62, 58145 Canal St., Plaquemine, called his former girlfriend, wrote to her and showed up at her home repeatedly during the past year despite her telling him to leave her alone, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said.
The ex-girlfriend told investigators that Gautreaux, who has no known relationship to Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, called her home daily, used vulgar language and made threats, Hicks said.
The woman said Gautreaux showed up at her home and her workplace often, Hicks said. On one occasion, the woman said Gautreaux told her that if he couldn’t have her no one could, an affidavit of probable cause says.
The woman, as well as a witness, also told investigators that Gautreaux contacted several of the woman’s friends and told them she was a prostitute and a gold digger, the affidavit says.
As a result of Gautreaux’s alleged actions, the woman told investigators she was afraid of the deputy, the affidavit says.
Gautreaux admitted to accessing the woman’s gated home by following other visitors through a security gate without her permission, Hicks said. According to the affidavit, Gautreaux also told investigators he called the woman several times, used bad language and threatened her.
The deputy was fired prior to being booked into Parish Prison on one count each of stalking, defamation and improper telephone communication.
Gautreaux had worked in security at Parish Prison for the past 11 years.
