Relative turns in escaped inmate

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies apprehended a missing work release inmate Wednesday morning after he walked off a job Monday, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

Johnathan Kemon Brumfield, 22, was found at a relative’s house after the relative called authorities, Casey Rayborn Hicks said in a news release.

Brumfield was booked with simple escape at Parish Prison, Hicks said. He was originally in Parish Prison for theft over $500.

Brumfield had walked away from his job on Coursey Boulevard, Hicks said.

Authorities book 2 on DWI suspicion

Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

  • Cameron Galatas, 21, 5405 Arialo Drive, second-offense DWI.
  • Misty Killcrease, 33, 23217 Joe May Road, Denham Springs, first-offense DWI, improper lane usage, no proof of insurance, and driver’s license suspended or revoked.
