School Board cancels committee meeting

The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board has canceled its “Committee of the Whole” meeting Thursday and has not yet rescheduled it, Chris Trahan, spokesman for the school system said Tuesday.

School Board President Barbara Freiberg said the board is considering holding the meeting Sept. 12, but that date hasn’t been finalized. She said Superintendent Bernard Taylor has at least one issue he wants to bring to the board. However, because Hurricane Isaac interrupted his work on the issue, Taylor now needs more time to develop it, Freiberg said.

The School Board still plans to hold its monthly meeting Sept. 20.

Wouldn't it be great if we actually had some transparency? What is the issue that we are now going to have less than two weeks to mull over before it becomes policy? Any thoughts, anyone?
