Baker police investigators arrested a man Friday and accuse him of raping a 14-year-old girl, who is now pregnant.
Bobby Antoine Winfield Sr., 34, 3290 Adams St., Baker, was booked into Parish Prison on forcible rape after a complaint arose that he repeatedly raped the juvenile “on a weekly basis from November 2011 through August of 2012,” according to a warrant for Winfield’s arrest.
Capt. Darryl Rainwater, of the Baker Police Department, reported that he was dispatched to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales on Friday to investigate the reported rape.
“Medical personnel reported that they admitted a 14-year-old female juvenile who was complaining of illnesses, and was suspected of being pregnant,” the arrest warrant states.
The juvenile was taken to the hospital by two of her aunts, and following a medical examination, it was determined that she was four months pregnant, the warrant says.
During interviews at the hospital and the Police Department, the girl said she was raped over an eight-month period by her mother’s live-in boyfriend, the warrant says.
The girl told police that her mother was incarcerated in November 2011 and she was left in Winfield’s custody. She claimed that is when he began to rape her and the incidents continued even after her mother was released from jail, the warrant says.
She told police that he “instructed the juvenile not to say anything to anyone” because he could get in trouble and that he bribed her with money and candy in order to keep her silent, the warrant says.
