Police: Rape victim, 14, pregnant

Baker police investigators arrested a man Friday and accuse him of raping a 14-year-old girl, who is now pregnant.

Bobby Antoine Winfield Sr., 34, 3290 Adams St., Baker, was booked into Parish Prison on forcible rape after a complaint arose that he repeatedly raped the juvenile “on a weekly basis from November 2011 through August of 2012,” according to a warrant for Winfield’s arrest.

Capt. Darryl Rainwater, of the Baker Police Department, reported that he was dispatched to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales on Friday to investigate the reported rape.

“Medical personnel reported that they admitted a 14-year-old female juvenile who was complaining of illnesses, and was suspected of being pregnant,” the arrest warrant states.

The juvenile was taken to the hospital by two of her aunts, and following a medical examination, it was determined that she was four months pregnant, the warrant says.

During interviews at the hospital and the Police Department, the girl said she was raped over an eight-month period by her mother’s live-in boyfriend, the warrant says.

The girl told police that her mother was incarcerated in November 2011 and she was left in Winfield’s custody. She claimed that is when he began to rape her and the incidents continued even after her mother was released from jail, the warrant says.

She told police that he “instructed the juvenile not to say anything to anyone” because he could get in trouble and that he bribed her with money and candy in order to keep her silent, the warrant says.

DMJ, I notice you only comment when you have an opportunity to advance your narrative. I reject you.

Sad.

"This is why we have legal abortion in this country." No it isn't. The percentage of abortions that are rape related is minuscule. Have you ever read Roe v. Wade?

This is why we have legal abortion in this country.

Unsurprisingly, most comments are too busy shredding the mother to even get around to consider the rapist. If I read this right, the rapes started when the state incarcerated the mother, and the state put the child in this guy's custody, or allowed her to remain there. While we don't know how long the mother was home again before she realized what was going on, at most it took her a few months to find out, then the girl was brought to the hospital. Bobby Antoine Winfield Sr., 34, of Baker, raped a child. He is the guilty party. Whenever a woman committs a crime, people get hysterical in their hatred of her, and whenever a man committs a crime, a woman gets blamed for it in any way possible. Many children were killed in this country by their fathers with only local one-time media notice, during the time people were watching the Casey Anthony media circus.

Why don't we send this one to Mitt and ask what he would do? Might seal the election for the good guys. Would he let a child suffer like this???

Mildred Citizen: The race should not matter. White guys do the same stuff as black guys, Mildred. In fact they are often less likely to do something sexual because they have been taught to respect in their matriarchal society and their grandmothers remember when lynching was common.

These women are always choosing the man over the children. Sex is more important to them than the kids are. Don't have kids if you are not going to take care of them. That needs to be the message. And if you have kids, don't seriously date a man and certainly don't move him in unless he would make a good stepfather. The mother is just as culpable as the man because she put the child in danger by letting him live in her house. She should be arrested for child endangerment.

As bad a mother as this girl's mother obviously is, she doesn't compare to the woman who dated a black guy named Gregory Johns, who served 15 years in prison and numerous runs in with the law afterwards. You would think you wouldn't let someone like that around your child. He sexually abused and impregnated her 11 year old daughter. The good news is he ran off after doctors reported her as pregnant, committed some more crimes, and got himself killed by the police 4 days ago. We should take up a collection for the cop who shot him. Is that legal?

Why isn't her mother back in jail for letting this man use and abuse this child sexually?

This is a prime example of why it is absolutely ludicrous to have an across-the-board policy restricting abortion in all cases. Every situation is different.

Sad to see a young girl's tragedy treated as a political football. May God be with this young lady. This pregnancy was forced on her and everyone should support whatever decision she makes now.

1418? i'm pro choice so someone has to help this baby make a determination what is best for her, that being ssid, i would recommend an abortion, NOW, so she could try and be a little girl for some time before having to "grow-up". i also would have zero mercy on the "man".

Will our Republican governor consider this legitimate rape?

this also happened in 1418 with a bribe of food and clothing.
