Utility companies work to restore power in Acadiana Utility companies work to restore power in Acadiana Acadiana bureau| Aug. 31, 2012 Comments LAFAYETTE — Utility providers worked throughout the early morning hours to restore power to communities impacted by Isaac’s strong winds. As of 8 a.m. Thursday, SLEMCO officials said 1,614 customers were without power, and the majority of those impacted live in Lafayette, St. Landry and St. Martin parishes. CLECO officials said Thursday morning that outages increased through the night as Tropical Storm Isaac churned through the state. The company began damage assessments in most areas at daybreak. The company reported the following outages: 4,927 in St. Mary; 751 in Acadia; 2,376 in Evangeline; 4,926 in Iberia; and 5,061 in St. Martin.
