Woman wounded
in home by gunfire

A woman was shot in the chest by gunfire early Saturday at 1447 Gwen St., a police spokesman said.

Police said the shooter fired from outside the home, hitting the victim while she was inside the residence at 1:22 a.m., police Capt. Elton G. Brown Sr. said.

The victim was admitted to a hospital for treatment of her wounds, Brown said.

Authorities book
4 on DWI counts

Authorities arrested at least four people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

  • Tyler Quatrevingt, 21, 4144 S. River Road, Port Allen, DWI and careless operation.
  • Judson Eldredge, 39, 2293 Hollydale, DWI; registration, commercial vehicles, exemption; and registration, motor vehicle.
  • Phillip Richard, 25, 10714 N. Tidecrest Drive, DWI.
  • Marvin Skipper, 36, 4949 Stumberg, DWI, failure to signal, disobeying a red light, failure to signal/improper turn, and improper lane.
