BR man arrested
after bomb found
Police arrested a 41-year-old man Thursday accused of making a bomb in his house, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Michael Collins, 6687 Kenny Circle, was booked into Parish Prison on counts of possession/manufacturing of a bomb, booking records show.
The affidavit says a woman who shared the house with Collins called police about 7:34 p.m. Wednesday to report having found what appeared to be a bomb on a shelf in her washroom.
When police arrived at the house at 6687 Kenny Circle, they looked at the photographs the woman had taken, and notified the police bomb squad.
The bomb squad found the device, which was a PVC pipe, two end caps and a green fuse, and confirmed that it was a bomb and an “anti-personnel device,” the affidavit says.
The bomb was transported to the Baton Rouge Police Range, where it was “made safe,” police spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.
Suspect arrested
in armed robbery
Police arrested a 19-year-old man Wednesday accused of luring a man outside his home via text message then robbing him at gunpoint, according to an arrest warrant.
The warrant says Cedric Joseph and a juvenile co-defendant texted the victim, then waited outside his home in the 2100 block of Canard Avenue about 8:55 p.m. on June 19.
After taking the victim’s cash, Joseph allegedly told him, “If you don’t back up, I’m going to shoot you!” the warrant says.
