Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies are looking for the man who robbed an elderly St. Amant woman at gunpoint inside her home Friday, deputies said.
The suspect, who is described as having a “small pot belly,” knocked on the woman’s door just before 11 p.m. and asked to use the telephone, Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said.
Once in the home, the man pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the woman, whose husband had already gone to bed, Bacala said. The suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall to 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a gray LSU shirt and dark-colored baseball cap.
Anyone with information can call (225) 621-4636 or Crime Stoppers at (225)344-7867.
After removing both home telephones from the wall, the robber put the woman in a bathroom and fled in a gray car, Bacala said.
