Police: Domestic dispute sparked fatal shooting
A 37-year-old man died at a hospital early Saturday after Baton Rouge police found his bullet-riddled body under a carport on Bartlett Street, an apparent victim of a domestic dispute, police said.
Police were called to the 2500 block of Bartlett Street, which runs between North 38th Street and North Foster Drive, about 5:50 a.m. Saturday after receiving a 911 call, Capt. Elton Brown Sr. said in a news release.
Officers found Dale Vincent Bentley, 37, 2565 Bartlett St., with multiple bullet wounds, under the carport of his home, Brown said.
Bentley died from his wounds after Emergency Medical Services had taken him to a hospital, Brown said.
Police arrested Jacqulyne Scott, 47, 9351 Pascagoula St., in connection with the shooting, Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said in a news release.
Detectives learned that Scott and Bentley had been in three-year relationship with a history of domestic violence, Stubbs said.
Scott arrived at Bentley’s house early Saturday and began arguing with Bentley, Stubbs said.
Scott then grabbed a gun and shot Bentley multiple times, Stubbs said.
Scott was booked into Parish Prison on one count of second-degree murder, Stubbs said.
