Escaped Evangeline Parish inmate captured
Authorities said Wednesday they have captured an Evangeline Parish inmate who escaped Tuesday morning by hot-wiring a Sheriff’s Office truck as the deputy was paying for gas in Lafayette.
Kyle Robert Dore, 28, was found on Mouton Cove Road south of Abbeville about 11:45 a.m., Louisiana State Police Trooper Stephen Hammons said in a news release.
Authorities also recovered the truck Dore used in his escape, Hammons said.
Dore was convicted and sentenced for aggravated assault against a police officer with a vehicle, Hammons has said.
The U.S. Marshal’s Violent Offender Task Force, State Police, Abbeville Police Department, Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office participated in the search, Hammons said.
Dore was taken into custody without incident, Hammons said.
