Police Jury to examine road-flooding causes
CLINTON — The East Feliciana Parish Police Jury decided to look into complaints of
flooding on Hockaday Road
in the southern part of the parish.
Residents Daryl and Kim Rice told jurors Monday
night that the road was being washed out because of poor drainage, clogged ditches and bayous.
Daryl Rice said that residential driveway culverts of various sizes also were contributing to the problem.
Glen Kent, who takes over as parish manager in September, said developments
such as logging had stopped up
the natural creek’s flow,
causing washouts on the
road.
Jurors asked Kent to find an answer to the problem.
Jury President Dennis Aucoin, who is in the logging and timber business, said some of the problem might be alleviated with help from loggers.
Other business taken up by the jury included:
APPOINTMENTS: The jury reappointed Russ Hicks and Juanita Parks to seats on the parish Planning and Zoning Commission.
Parish Manager Judith G. Kelly said Hicks and Parks were the only applicants to volunteer for the two open positions, which had been advertised for three weeks.
