Capital Area Technical College and Baton Rouge Community College are launching their joint “North Baton Rouge Industrial Training Initiative” program Wednesday designed to teach residents trade skills and then match them with area workforce needs.
The event kicks off with the “70805 Education for Careers Fair” at 11 a.m. at Capital Area Technical College, 3250 N. Acadian Thruway E.
The initiative is targeted at finding jobs for residents of the area — bordered by Airline Highway to the north and the east, Choctaw Drive to the south and the Mississippi River to the west — which accounts for 13 percent of the city’s population but 30 percent of its homicides.
