BRPD investigate Monday homicide

Police are investigating a Monday morning shooting on Madison Avenue that left a man dead in his front yard, a police spokesman said.

Police were called out to 3006 Madison Ave. at 8:15 a.m. to investigate the fatal shooting of a resident of the home, Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said in a news release.

When police arrived, they found Kedrick Dennis, 30, dead in front of his house, Stubbs said.

Police believe a man approached Dennis, who was standing in the yard, and shot him before fleeing in a white car, Stubbs said.

Police have no motive for
the killing at this time, Stubbs said.

Dennis’ house is at Madison and North 30th Street, between Plank Road and North Acadian Thruway.

Sitting on the front steps of the home Monday afternoon, the victim’s sister, Brittany Dennis, said her brother lived there with another sister and their mother.

Brittany Dennis said her mother called her Monday morning to tell her that her brother had been shot.

“I just started crying,” she said.

Brittany Dennis said her brother had five children — one boy and four girls — the oldest of whom was 13. She said he also had a stepson.

Kedrick Dennis worked at the McDonald’s on Nicholson Drive near LSU and also worked odd jobs at other places, his sister said.

He had obtained his GED after attending Capitol High School, she said.

“He was a good person,” she said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP.

as always there will be/was a reason for the killing. it may not be much of a reason to the law abidding sections of BR, but it'll do for the rest of them. usually has something to do with drugs.

@DUH: One would think that, but the portion of this city's population that is responsible for the vast majority of the murders is reproducing at an alarming rate.

Another day, another homicide. Why don't we denote one day a month for these folks to kill each other, get it over with and the rest of the month, the law abiding citizens can live free of this! One would think eventually they would kill each other off!
