E. Feliciana shooting kills man

A 41-year-old man died from a shotgun wound to the chest Saturday after he barged into the mobile home of his next-door neighbor, the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

James Mark Hardwick died at the scene after a blast from the 12-gauge shotgun, said Detective Don McKey, a spokesman for Sheriff Talmadge Bunch.

Hardwick was carrying an unloaded .410-gauge shotgun, but the person who shot Hardwick didn’t know that, McKey said.

No arrests were made, he said, but the case will go to the grand jury.

“The statements and evidence point to self-defense,” McKey said.

The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. on La. 67 north of Clinton, about two miles from the Mississippi state line, McKey said.

Hardwick had been causing disturbances in the area, McKey said, and someone had called the Sheriff’s Office because of Hardwick shortly before the shooting.

“We had units en route,” he said.

You can put St. Landry Parish on that list also, Jason Whitey Rolls.

East Feliciana parish is the LAST place you want your fate decided by a jury of your so-called "peers" when your only defense is your right to self-defense. Look no further than the railroading of Anthony Manzella for proof positive.
