Police and fire briefs for July 20, 2012

Authorities arrested at least four people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish — including a woman on third-offense DWI — and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

  • Shannon Brasseaux, 41, 5255 Congress Blvd., third-offense DWI, improper lane usage, reckless operation of a vehicle and failure to yield to a private drive.
  • Maria Ocmond, 29, 10795 Mead Road, first-offense DWI, insurance required and failure to maintain control.
  • Jason Bell, 29, 2675 31st St., first-offense DWI, speeding and driver’s license required.
  • Gayleanne Chavers, 35, 10342 Celtic Drive, first-offense DWI, license plate switched and headlights required.

Why do we see 3rd & 4th offense DWI's on a regular basis? When will they be kept behind bars & off the roads?

i'd wait to do anything till she kills somebody. then do something. judges should be responsible for their actions. no free rides.
