Police looking for teenage runaway

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 16-year-old runaway and the girl’s 23-year-old friend who is believed to be harboring her.

Lexy Jones has been missing since June 21 from her home in the Duson area, Capt. Kip Judice, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release Tuesday.

Investigators have established that Coy James Borel has provided refuge for Jones, Judice said.

Prior to leaving her home on June 21, Jones had a dispute with her parents, Judice said.

Telephone contact with Jones confirms that she is not in immediate distress, Judice said.

Borel and Jones are believed to be in the Henderson or Cecilia areas of St. Martin Parish and could be in Borel’s red 1996 Dodge pickup bearing Louisiana license plate number S785257.

Borel has outstanding warrants for misdemeanor theft charge and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, according to Sheriff’s Office records.

Jones has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is about 5 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 150 pounds. She may have dyed her hair black or red to conceal her identity, Judice said.

Anyone with information about Jones’ whereabouts is asked to call Lafayette Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-8477.
