AMITE — A Tangipahoa woman was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in the stabbing death of a Kentwood motel manager, the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office said.
Joyce Stinson Myers, 36, told investigators she attacked and fatally stabbed Kentwood Plaza Inn manager Eugene Dong Lee on July 11, 2010, because voices in her head told her Lee had put cameras in the room where she lived, District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said in a news release Tuesday.
Myers originally was charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded guilty July 10 to a reduced charge of manslaughter, Perrilloux said. District Judge Ray Chutz sentenced her to 40 years with the state Department of Corrections, Perrilloux said.
Assistant District Attorney Angel Monistere prosecuted the case.
