Police identify Government Street shooting victim
The victim of Monday night’s shooting that occurred at a Government Street store has been identified as 32-year-old Montaser Zarrouq, 1548 Del Plaza Drive, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.
Officers were dispatched shortly after 8 p.m. to a shooting at Jim and Lu’s at 1701 Government St., police spokesman Capt. Elton Brown said in a news release.
Officers found Zarrouq, a store employee, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds, Police Department spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.
The victim was shot in the chest, Stubbs said.
Zarrouq was taken to a hospital where he later died, according to the release.
Motives and suspects in the shooting are unknown at this time.
