Drowned man discovered in pool

A man drowned Sunday in the 100 block of Edie Ann Drive in Lafayette, police said.

Police responded at 9 a.m. to a report of a 57-year-old man found unresponsive in the pool, according to a news release from the Lafayette Police Department.

The man was last seen swimming about 6 a.m., according to police.

The victim’s name was being withheld pending notification of relatives, police said.

Pedestrian critical after struck by car

A pedestrian was in critical condition Sunday after being struck by a vehicle about 2:30 a.m. in the 900 block of West University Avenue, police said.

The driver, Corey H. Duplechin, 37, of Breaux Bridge, was booked on charges of first-offense DWI and vehicular negligent injury, according to a news release from the Lafayette Police.

Police did not release the name of the pedestrian.
