Fire destroys apartment

A woman admitted to having set fire to her own apartment Sunday, causing $100,000 in damage, a Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman said.
She was not arrested, however, because investigators believed there to be “some mental instability issues with the woman,” said spokesman Barry Mounce.
The woman was brought to a hospital for a mental evaluation, Mounce said.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 2256 Drusilla Lane, No. 206, about 3:40 p.m., and had the two-alarm fire under control by 3:59 p.m., Mounce said.
The fire destroyed the first-floor apartment and caused smoke damage to four other apartments, Mounce said.
No injuries were reported.
