Hammond man arrested in area burglaries

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Hammond man in numerous vehicle burglaries in the area.

Authorities found James Janicholas Keys, 19, of Quick Boulevard, Hammond, at the Greyhound bus station in Baton Rouge, Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards said in a news release Thursday.

Keys was detained on two outstanding warrants from the Sheriff’s Office and arrested by Baton Rouge police on a count of marijuana possession, Edwards said.

Keys faces 74 counts of burglary, Edwards said. Additional charges and arrests may be forthcoming, he said.

As a result of the investigation, Sheriff’s Office detectives and other deputies were able to recover some of the stolen property, Edwards said.

Keys was allegedly attempting to leave Louisiana and was headed to Indiana, Edwards said.
