N.P. Moss work bids scheduled
LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Parish School Board is scheduled to select a contractor for renovations to the N.P. Moss Annex site in a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Bids for the project will be opened at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the board selecting the low and “responsible” bid during a special meeting that afternoon, according to the posted meeting agenda.
In May, Michael LeBlanc, of MWL Architects, estimated the renovation costs for the annex site at $3.5 million.
He also told the board if the work began in early July, the renovations to the main school building could be complete in time for the start of school Aug. 10.
The site will house the district’s alternative programs for students with behavioral and academic deficiencies.
It also will house the district’s Charter High, a drop-out prevention program that allows students to earn a traditional high school diploma while working at their own pace with computerized instruction.
At the special meeting, information on property tax millages will be provided to the board. The board also plans to discuss the likelihood of rolling millages forward after property tax reassessments.
A public hearing on the issue will be held Aug. 15.
