Two men accused
in restaurant robbery

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s detectives Friday morning arrested a former McDonald’s employee accused of robbing the shop where he used to work.

Deputies said Tramones Allen, 21, walked into the McDonald’s at 11647 Hooper Road at 6:30 a.m., forced a worker at gunpoint to give him cash, then forced all the shop’s employees into a walk-in freezer and stole some of their cellphones before fleeing in a vehicle driven by Thomas Lathers, 19, said Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks.

Detectives found some of the stolen cash and cellphones in a vacant field and then determined that a vehicle previously seen in the field had been at Allen’s home, Hicks said.

Allen, 11647 Hooper Road, will be booked into Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, Hicks said. Lathers, 300 McHugh Road, Baker, will be booked on counts of principal to armed robbery, as well as two warrants for possession of marijuana and schedule II narcotics, Hicks said.

Police arrest pair
in invasion robbery

Police arrested two men accused of entering a house early Friday and attempting to rob the people inside with a BB gun, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Police said Robert Richard and Christian Klein, both 19, walked uninvited into a house in the 400 block of Jennifer Jean Drive at 1:40 a.m. Friday. Richard then pointed a BB gun at the people inside, while Klein told them “not to have hard feelings, but they were getting robbed,” the affidavit says.

When the victims said they had no money, Klein began fighting one of them and Richard ran away, the affidavit states.

An officer immediately arrested Richard after arriving at the scene to check on reports of two men in the street with a gun, the affidavit says. Richard fit the description of one of the men, the affivadit says.

Afterward, Klein also ran out of the house and, seeing the uniformed officer, tried to flee, the affidavit says.

Both Klein, 777 Ben Hur Road, and Richard, 2419 S. Saratoga St., New Orleans, were booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, booking records show.

armed robbery count

Police arrested a 32-year-old man Friday accused of pistol-whipping a mentally handicapped man and robbing him at gunpoint, according to a warrant.

Police said Johnny Jackson went to the mentally-handicapped victim’s house in the 3100 block of Fuqua Street on June 1 to recover about $200 he claimed the victim owed him from a $100 loan about a year ago, the warrant states.

Jackson allegedly beat the victim with his gun before stealing the victim’s wallet, which had $800 it, the warrant says.

Jackson, 9523 Swingalong St., was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of armed robbery, booking records show.

Seven drivers booked
on EBR DWI counts

Authorities arrested at least seven people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Thursday and 2:30 p.m. Friday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

• Benny Smith, 55, 13882 Lovett Road, second-offense DWI, failure to maintain control and reckless operation of a vehicle.
• Cody Glasper, 22, 4268 St. Gerard St., second-offense DWI and driver’s license expired.
• Whitney Leboeuf, 20, 13119 Joor Road, first-offense DWI and license plate light required.
• Richard Nguyen, 24, 7641 Bless Ave., first-offense DWI and speeding.
• Dustin Parrino, 29, 9960 Cloverdale St., Denham Springs, second-offense DWI, seatbelt violation, careless driving and failure to maintain control.
• Craig Stewart, 45, 14196 Bayou Terrace St., St. Amant, first-offense DWI and speeding.
• Larry Ware, 49, 10217 Avenue I, first-offense DWI and drinking in a motor vehicle.
