The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Friday morning plane crash near Dubois Road, an official said.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Ryan Turner said the single-engine plane crashed shortly after 8 a.m. Only the pilot was on board at the time of the crash, Turner said.
The pilot was taken to a local hospital and was conscious at the time, although the extent of his injuries is not known, Turner said.
According to witnesses, the pilot had been practicing landings and takeoffs in an empty field.
“It appears that he possibly struck a power line,” Turner said.
The crash remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office has also notified the National Transportation and Safety Board.
