Police: Victim shot
in argument over gun
A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday, accused of shooting another man multiple times during an argument about a gun, an affidavit of probable cause says.
Raynard O’Conner shot an acquaintance at 6:45 p.m. June 21 at 6620 Greenwell Springs Road after learning the man had traded the .38 revolver he had let him borrow for a 9 mm pistol, the affidavit says.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and had to undergo surgery, the affidavit says.
Conner, 18609 Greenwell Springs Road, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of attempted second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
Man, 34, surrenders in Medicaid fraud
A 34-year-old man accused of Medicaid fraud surrendered to authorities Tuesday, according to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.
Jimmy D. Thomas submitted false applications and fraudulent credentials to several of his former employers enrolled in Medicaid, Attorney General’s Office spokeswoman Amanda Larkins said.
Thomas also provided falsified college transcripts indicating three degrees earned from a university he never attended, Larkins said. Thomas also falsified at least one letter of reference, Larkins said.
Thomas, 3211 Mission Drive, was booked on two counts each of forgery and filing or maintaining false public records.
Suspect, 18, accused
of sex with girl, 13
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested an 18-year-old man Wednesday accused of having sex with a 13-year-old girl, according to an arrest warrant.
Harold James Holmes, 3243 King Bradford Drive, was booked into Parish Prison on one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
The girl told deputies she had sex with Holmes because of peer pressure, the warrant says.
Authorities book 3
on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least three people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Ryan Browning, 31, 9063 Kilt Place, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle, driving with a suspended license, drinking in a motor vehicle, hit-and-run and red light/disobey.
- Jorge Quinones, 48, 10716 Airline Highway, first-offense DWI, improper backing and driver’s license required.
- Matthew Weisberger, 18, 1515 Potomac Drive, Houston, first-offense DWI and improper lane usage.
