Obama pushes road, loan deals

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is pressing Congress to reach agreement on a transportation bill and a plan to prevent students from having their loan rates double.

Obama said in his radio and Internet address that Congress should do everything it can to help students attain higher education and repair the nation’s crumbling roads and bridges.

Congressional negotiators are working on a deal to avert a July 1 doubling of interest rates on federal loans to 7.4 million college students and a separate plan to overhaul federal transportation programs.

In the Republican address, Louisiana Rep. Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge, said if the Supreme Court doesn’t repeal the entire health-care law, Congress should repeal what is left and implement common-sense reforms that protect access to health care and lower costs.

Hmmm, makes me wonder where all that stimulus money went. We know that some of it went to Solyndra, right? How many jobs did that create? Just too much cronyism and waste to justify asking for more. I wonder how past generations with student loans managed to pay off their loans without bailouts or Obama pandering for votes? Just like the housing disaster, if you can't pay back the loan, don't sign the agreement. Everyone wants something for nothing or for someone else to pay. There is no personal responsibility anymore.

Thank you, Representative Cassidy. However, my "progressive" friends and politicians don't want to year about any "common sense reforms". Tax/spend is music to their ears.
