LIDS acquires sports retailer Tiger Mania
Tiger Mania, the popular Baton Rouge retailer of LSU Sports attire and other products, has been acquired by LIDS Clubhouse, a retail brand of Indianapolis-based LIDS Sports Group.
“We are excited about this mutually rewarding growth opportunity within the LSU community, as it is an important step forward for our LIDS Clubhouse division,” Charlie Brodt, LIDS Sports Group executive vice president of retail, said in a statement.
“With our expertise in sports apparel retailing, as well as a broad assortment of officially licensed LSU merchandise, I truly believe Tiger fans will find a significant value in what LIDS Sports Group can do through the expansion of this brand.”
LIDS Sports Group will introduce its LIDS Club loyalty card program in the Tiger Mania stores, which provides points with every purchase.
Members can use their points to cash in on rewards, such as exclusive discounts and promotional offers as well as access to special products and events.
Specific terms of the retail agreement were not disclosed.
Officials with Tiger Mania and LIDS Sports Group could not be reached Friday for comment.
Tiger Mania was formed in 1996, according to the company’s website, and includes locations at the Mall of Louisiana, Highland Road and Interline Avenue. Tiger Mania also has an online store.
The LIDS Sports Group, operating within Hat World Inc., is made up of the LIDS retail headwear stores, the LIDS Locker Room specialty fan retail chain, the LIDS Clubhouse retail stores, the LIDS Team Sports wholesale team sports business and Internet businesses.
The retail businesses make up more than 1,000 mall-based, airport, street-level and factory outlet locations nationwide, and in Canada and Puerto Rico.
