Third arrest made in drive-by shooting

— Police arrested a third suspect Wednesday in a May 29 drive-by shooting incident in the Sherron and Georgia street area, Police Chief Mike Knaps said.

Knaps said three to five shots were fired at three people on Georgia Street, but no one was hit.

Knaps said officers learned Vyron Courtney, 18, 12344 E. Brock Place, Baton Rouge, was in the SUV from which the shots were fired.

Courtney was booked Thursday morning at East Baton Rouge Parish Prison with attempted first-degree murder, assault by drive-by shooting, intimidation of a witness, obstruction of justice, illegal use of a weapon and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Knaps said Courtney is accused of threatening a witness to the incident.

Investigators said Gregg Anthony Morris, 18, 11304 Cypress Glen Ave., Baton Rouge, is accused of firing the shots after someone in the group pointed a gun at him on Sherron Street, according to an arrest warrant.

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy soon after the shooting and picked up Morris on June 10.

Yeah, but he knows right from wrong. And if he didn't, he will have time to think about it in jail.
