Sawmill Safety award
The Weyerhaeuser Co. mill at Holden has been awarded the 2011 Sawmill Safety Award. The award is given each year to mills that are members of the Southern Forest Products Association with outstanding safety records, company officials said.
Based on the results of occupational injuries and illness reports, Southern Forest Products Association members submitted information on total employee hours worked and the number of recordable cases. Mills are classified by the annual production volume of the company.
The sawmill at Holden received the award for Division Two, which includes companies producing from 51 to 150 million board feet of southern pine lumber annually.
This award marks the fourth consecutive year the Holden mill has operated accident-free.
